Go to http://www.secondlife.com/join.

Select your user name.  You can make up your own first name but you have to select one of the last names from the list of available last names.  Choose your name carefully, since it cannot be changed.

Next, select an avatar.  Selecting an avatar at this stage is not very important because you can always customize your avatar, later.

Once you’ve selected an avatar, it will appear on the screen. Then click the Choose this avatar button.

On the next screen, enter your personal information. When everything is filled in, click the Submit button.

If you register a credit card number, you are given $250 Linden dollars (which is approximately $1 US dollar). Linden dollars are what you use to buy items such as clothes, furniture and property. You can also make items and sell them to other residents. There are several good places where you can get free items.

Next you will need to install the Second Life software on your computer. Go back to the Second Life home page at http://www.secondlife.com and sign in with the name you created for your avatar.

Once you have logged in, you should see Downloads on your left hand of the screen. Choose the Second Life Installer that is appropriate for your computer (XP, Mac or Linux)

If your computer cannot install Second Life, you will get a message saying so. It may be that your computer has a conflict or inadequate video card. After the software has been installed on your computer, you should see shortcut for Second Life on your desktop. Double click and log in using your Avatar’s first name, last name, and password you created.

Once logged in, you will go to an Orientation Island for newbies. Here you can learn to walk, fly, pick things up. I actually don’t recommend staying on this island all that long.  Do some exploring and when you are ready to leave the island you can use the Search button on the bottom of the screen to find Srpski Dom.  Click on the All tab and enter Srpski Dom in the search box.  Click on the teleport button (to the right) and begin your new Second Life.
